Cafe Amudham Janpath stands out in the Connaught Place area as a laid-back spot for those looking to enjoy authentic South Indian food paired with thoughtfully brewed beverages. Located just off the bustle of Janpath, this cafe offers a calm, airy setting thanks to its bright interiors and high ceilings, making it a comfortable retreat from the busy streets.

The cafe’s atmosphere is casual yet spacious, with plenty of seating that accommodates groups or solo visitors equally well. It's a convenient choice for office lunches or relaxed meetups, especially on weekday evenings when crowds are thinner and waiting times minimal.

Food here leans towards traditional South Indian favorites, with particular attention to detail — the Thatte Idli is soft and fluffy, generously coated in ghee and podi, delivering an authentic Andhra-style punch. The dosas, whether the Jain Masala or Ghee Podi Masala variants, are crisp-edged with warm, flavorful fillings. Notably, the Ghee Saagu Dosa replaces the usual potato masala with kurma, offering a distinct, rich taste that some locals swear by.

On the beverage front, their filter coffee lives up to its reputation, served hot and strong, making it a perfect finish to a meal or a refreshing mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Masala tea and lemon tea also find their place here and are often shared across the table, served in portions for two, reinforcing the social aspect of dining at the cafe.

Cleanliness and quick service keep the experience smooth, while the overall vibe is gentle and understated—no loud music or flashy decor, just straightforward comfort and quality food. This makes Cafe Amudham a practical option for anyone craving a no-fuss, vegetarian South Indian meal in central Delhi, whether it’s a weekend brunch or a weekday lunch break.

Cafe Amudham in CP, Delhi. The food was absolutely awesome — fresh, flavorful, and served hot. You can really taste the authenticity in every bite. Filter Coffee after the lunch is a must try. Had nice, relaxed vibe with plenty of seating, so it’s perfect for large groups or office lunches. Service was smooth and quick. Made the whole experience even better. It’s also quite clean and well-maintained. Overall, it’s a great spot if you’re craving some good South Indian food without having to wait too long or spend too much. Parking - Not far away (NDMC one).

Visited Cafe Amudham recently, and really liked the bright, clean interiors. The high ceilings and simple seating give it a calm, airy feel. We had heard a lot about their famous podi idli, so we tried it — and it actually lived up to the hype. Soft idlis, fresh podi, and that perfect Andhra-style spice kick, we also tried their masala dosa which was decent, we really like their chutnies, sambar feels quiet plan though but overall it’s good. The overall vibe is peaceful, with families and regular visitors enjoying their meals. Service is quick and straightforward, and the food feels homely and comforting. If you’re craving simple, authentic South Indian/Andhra-style food, this is definitely a good spot. I’d go back again just for the podi idli!

Great taste, sambhar on a sweeter amd less spicer side. Podi masala dosa is great. Benne masala dosa is great. Carrot halwa is superdelicious and yes paniyaram is something they make best of all. They provide all vegetarian options. The aesthetics are also gentle and settled. No waiting time on weekdays eves. Can be tried if dont want to wait for saravana bhavan entry. Taste and gastronomic experience is totally different. Only minus is service is slow when all tables are occupied, in comparison to saravan bhavan. Probably due to shortage of staff.

Cafe Amudham Janpath is a delightful spot in central Delhi — especially if you crave authentic South-Indian food. The dosas here are crisp on the outside and soft inside, the ghee-podi thatte idlis are rich and flavorful, and their filter coffee & Ravakesari rounds off a satisfying, homely meal; many reviews praise it as “a hidden gem for South Indian food lovers,” with portions and prices that feel very reasonable. The ambiance is pleasant, modern yet cozy, with bright lighting and a welcoming vibe that adds to the dining experience. Getting there is fairly convenient: the address is 44, Janpath Lane, Atul Grove Road, Janpath (Connaught Place). If you prefer public transport, you can reach central Delhi via a metro to Janpath and exit from Gate 2— from whichever line gets you to the Connaught Place / Janpath area, then walk or take a short auto. If you come by personal vehicle, know that parking is limited during weekends, and it can get especially tricky during peak hours, so many recommend a cab or auto instead. All in all, Cafe Amudham Janpath stands out for its genuine South-Indian taste, budget-friendly prices and cozy vibe — perfect for dosa or filter-coffee lovers.

I’ve been here twice and both times couldn’t resist ordering Thatte Idli and Ghee Saagu Dosa that’s how much I loved them! • The Thatte Idli was soft, fluffy, loaded with ghee and just the right amount of podi masala . • The Ghee Saagu Dosa is unique, stuffed with kurma instead of regular potato masala and it was super tasty . Other dishes I tried: • Garlic Button Idli spicy, garlicky and absolutely outstanding. • Ghee Roast Garlic Dosa crunchy, flavour-packed and a garlic lover’s dream. • Poori Kurma light, non-oily pooris served with kurma, a perfect combo. • Masala Dosa classic and delicious, my friends loved it. • Lemon Rice with Raita fresh, not dry at all, very well made. • Juices we had watermelon and pineapple juice, super refreshing with no packaged taste. • Filter Coffee strong and aromatic, perfect if you love strong coffee. • Kesaribath the star of their menu, almost every table was ordering it and rightly so. A bit sweet, but a must-try if you have a sweet tooth. We didn’t even cross ₹2,000 for all this, totally pocket-friendly. Amazing food Good service Value for money ⭐ Highly recommended if you’re a South Indian food lover!

Cafe Amudham Janpath is a fantastic spot for delicious South Indian food and definitely deserves a 4.5 star rating. The dosas are crisp, the idlis are soft, and the filter coffee is strong and deeply satisfying, making it a great place for both a quick snack and a proper meal. The ambience is bright and welcoming, and the staff are polite and efficient, even when it gets crowded. The only minor downside is a bit of waiting time during peak hours, but the quality and taste of the food more than make up for it.

Cafe Amudham at Janpath is an absolute delight for anyone who loves authentic South Indian flavors. From the moment you step in, the aroma of freshly prepared dosas, filter coffee, and sambhar fills the air and sets the tone for a satisfying experience. The ambience is calm, clean, and minimalistic — perfect for both a quick meal and a relaxed dining experience. The staff is courteous, attentive, and always smiling, making you feel genuinely welcome. Coming to the food — it’s simply outstanding! The Ghee Roast Dosa is crisp and aromatic, the Idlis are soft and fluffy, and the Vadas have the perfect crunch. The Sambhar and Chutneys are flavorful, freshly made, and served generously. Their filter coffee is a must-have — strong, aromatic, and authentic to its roots. What I really appreciate is the consistency in taste and hygiene. Every dish feels freshly prepared with high-quality ingredients, and the portion sizes are satisfying without being over the top. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and the prime Janpath location. If you’re craving genuine South Indian food in Delhi — whether for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack — Cafe Amudham is a must-visit. It perfectly blends authenticity, comfort, and great service.
